Codes & Decodes

Kenwood KVC-1000

code entry

Mask Key

The code is entered by an infra-red remote control (mask key) and cannot be entered via the front panel.

Turn on the power.

The display screen reads: The system is now waiting for your MASK KEY signal. Please input now. (Keep the mask key close to the signal sensor when you transmit the mask key's signal.)

Hold down the transmit button on the mask key until the full transmit level indicator lights up in the display. ALL OFF will appear in the display, with the mask key function turning on.

removing the unit

First remove the hard rubber frame:

Remove the faceplate then engage the catch pins on the removal tool (the 'release key' - see the link on the right if you need to purchase) and remove the two locks on the upper level. Push the frame upwards and pull it forward as shown in the figure.

When the upper level is removed, remove the lower two locations.

NB The frame can be removed from the bottom side in the same manner.

Remove the hex-head screw with integral washer on the back panel, then insert the two removal tools deeply into the slots on each side, as shown:

Push the removal tool upwards towards the top and pull the unit out halfway, whilst pressing towards the inside.

NB Be careful to avoid injury from the catch pins on the removal tool.

Pull the unit all the way out with your hands, being careful not to drop it.
